The Third Shift

I work while you're sleeping. I've somehow managed to forge a career in journalism that's led me to the Pacific Northwest. Welcome to my little padded room. If you have a question, feel free to ask. If you like your observations in a pithier form, this twit Tweets.
Who I Follow

robertreich:

It has been said there is no high ground in American politics since any politician who claims it is likely to be gunned down by those firing from the trenches. That’s how the Obama team justifies its decision to endorse a super PAC that can raise and spend unlimited sums for his campaign.

Much as I want to agree with Reich, not playing by the new super-PAC rules is political suicide and he has to know that. The electorate as a whole will not be swayed by some grand pronouncement that President Obama will not get involved with super-PACs because the majority of the electorate won’t know what a super-PAC is and won’t care.

Public financing of elections is the road we have to eventually find ourselves on, but it will take a very, very long way to get there so long as corporate money is speech.
