There was a gentle ladies’ agreement, if you will, that no one was going to go to the press about this.” In an exclusive interview with The Daily Beast, former Komen VP Karen Handel alleges that Planned Parenthood bullied Komen and broke a secret pact.  Handel is playing an exquisite game of CYA that won’t fool anyone. I keep reading this and asking myself “What reason would Cecile Richards and Planned Parenthood have to agree to such a pact to stay silent about the funding loss?” and I cannot come up with one, notably because it goes against Richards’ public instincts — she doesn’t back down from fights defending her organization.
